The EU project SIXFOLD aims to strengthen innovation in the agri-food sector in Europe by establishing a network of Living Labs. The Living Labs enable agricultural and food companies to test and implement new technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and biotechnology. Over a period of two years, around 150 companies will be supported to test pioneering solutions in the food system. Six partner institutions from Finland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Germany, including the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, are working together on this project.
As part of the project, six international study visits and co-creation sessions will be carried out to drive innovation forward. The knowledge gained will be shared with various networks and partnerships to promote the exchange of knowledge. In addition, a sustainability and governance model is being developed to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the network.
SIXFOLD supports the objectives of the EU's Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork strategy by contributing to the environmental and technological transformation of the agri-food sector. At the OWL University of Applied Sciences, the Institute for Life Science Technologies (ILT.NRW) is involved in the project as a living lab with the Future Food Factory OWL.
Project partners: SeAMK - Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Finnland), AgriFood Capital (Netherlands), AgriFood Lithuania (Lithuania), Flanders' FOOD (Belgium), ITG Technology Center (Spain)
